Setting up a company in Bahrain is straightforward. Getting it bank-ready is where most investors need help.
About PI Startup Advisory
PI Startup Advisory is a business formation consultancy registered in Bahrain and authorised by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce to provide company registration services to foreign investors.
PI Startup Advisory was founded in 2019 by Saqlain Akram, a Bahrain-based consultant with a Master of Commerce degree, CPA certification, and AML qualification. The firm has since handled over 1,000 company formation applications across more than 37 nationalities, including investors from the UK, USA, UAE, Pakistan, India, Nigeria, and countries across the GCC.
Our work is straightforward: we manage the paperwork, coordinate with the relevant authorities, advise on bank selection, and ensure your company is correctly registered before we consider the engagement complete.
We hold no equity in our clients’ businesses. We charge a fixed fee, and we work with you directly, not through a junior team that has never met you.

Where Most Applications Run Into Trouble
The MOIC registration process itself is well-documented and moves quickly when paperwork is in order. What delays most foreign investors, sometimes by weeks, is the bank account stage.
Bahrain has over 400 financial institutions. The account opening timeline for a new foreign-owned company ranges from 1-3 business days at the fastest institutions to 15-20 business days at banks with more intensive due diligence requirements. The difference is not the bank’s size or reputation. It depends on your nationality, your declared business activity, and your transaction profile. Most investors only discover this after they have submitted to the wrong bank.
We advise on bank selection before the application goes in. That single decision has more impact on your total setup timeline than any other part of the process.
Other issues we see regularly:
- Business activity codes selected incorrectly, creating problems at licensing or with the bank
- Virtual office addresses submitted for activities that require inspectable premises
- Power of Attorney documents prepared without Bahrain-specific legalisation requirements
- Corporate shareholders are not providing attested parent company documents, stalling the entire file
None of these are complicated problems. They are all avoidable with prior knowledge.

What Working With Us Looks Like
Consultation
Before anything is submitted, we review your nationality, intended business activity, and banking requirements. These three factors determine your realistic timeline and the right structure. Some nationalities require additional security clearance steps. Some activities require sector-specific approvals beyond the MOIC. We identify these upfront.
Branch of a Foreign Company
We draft your KYC package, Memorandum of Association, and Articles of Association. We submit applications through the Sijilat portal and manage name reservation, which typically resolves in 1-3 business days.
Address & Municipality Approval
We arrange a compliant, registered office address and coordinate municipality pre-approval before the lease is signed. For activities requiring physical premises, we also advise on what inspectors look for.
Bank Account
We recommend the right institution based on your profile and guide your documentation through the bank’s process. We do not guarantee timelines, no consultant can, but we do not send clients to banks that are a poor fit.
CR Issuance & Post-Registration
Once your Capital Deposit Certificate is issued, the Commercial Registration Certificate follows within 1-2 business days. We then handle LMRA registration and investor visa processing if required.
Client Success Stories
The most common answer is that we told them what to expect before it happened, not after. When a bank takes longer than expected, clients who were briefed on the range of possible timelines handle it differently from those who were told "it will be fast."
The second most common answer is that we are reachable. International investors working across time zones need a contact who responds on WhatsApp, not one who emails three days later.
The third is that our fee structure has no surprises. Government fees are listed separately at cost. Our professional fee is fixed at the start. Nothing is added after the work begins.
We are not the cheapest option in the market. We are not trying to be.
