List of CR activities allowed for Sijili registration
Sijili is the MOIC’s simplified online company registration system – a faster, lower-cost route for registering straightforward business activities without going through the full standard CR process. It was introduced to reduce the administrative burden for small businesses and individual operators.
Not all business activities are eligible for Sijili registration. MOIC maintains a specific list of activities that can be registered through the Sijili route – these are typically low-risk, non-regulated activities that do not require approvals from sector-specific regulators. The table below shows the current list of Sijili-eligible activities.
For eligible activities, Sijili registration can be completed online through the Sijilat portal, often within a few days, without the need for a physical office address inspection or extensive documentation. However, Sijili registrations do have limitations – they are not equivalent to a full company CR in all contexts, and some banks and government bodies treat them differently from standard WLL registrations.
If your target activity is on the Sijili list, it is worth deciding whether the Sijili route or the standard CCR route better suits your business needs. Factors to consider: whether you need a corporate bank account with a major Bahraini bank (most require a full CCR), whether you plan to hire employees through LMRA, and whether you want an investor residence permit (which requires a full CR, not a Sijili registration).
